1) What is the South Africa General Work Visa?

The General work visa is valid for the duration of the employment contract or period not exceeding 5 years. It is the most common type of work visa.

A Corporate Visa is issued to a company (for example farms, or construction companies). It’s not for an individual. On this visa, the company can employ many foreign-skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers.

  • Police clearance certificate.
  • A written undertaking by the employer accepting responsibility for the costs related to the deportation of the applicant and his/ her dependent family members, should it become necessary.
  • A certificate from the Department of Labour.
  • An employment contract.
  • Proof of qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority
  • All necessary information about the employer, company, and business address.

Required Documents for Critical Skills Work Visa

  • A signed completed visa application form.
  • A passport.
  • Payment of the visa fee.
  • Proof of financial means such as bank statements, cash, and cheques.
  • Police clearance certificate.
  • Medical and radiology reports
  • Proof of application for a certificate of registration with the accredited professional body, council, or board recognized by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
  • Proof of qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority
  • Proof of employment within 12 months after you obtain a critical skills work visa.

For an intra-company transfer work visa 

  • Proof of financial means for a return ticket.
  • An employment contract with the company abroad.
  • A letter from the company or employer where you will be working confirming your transfer.
