The Netherlands is a European Union country. Non-EU Nationals interested in working in the Agriculture sector can apply for the Netherlands Seasonal Work Visa. The Netherlands issued 299,386 work permits in 2022 with an increase of 43% to the previous year. It is officially known as “Residence Permit for Seasonal Work”. Citizens of EU/EEA countries do not need any work permit. They can travel to the Netherlands with their ID/Passport. The Seasonal worker visa allows to work up to 24 weeks (6 months) in the agricultural and horticulture sector.

To work as a Paid employee. The monthly salary is valid from 1 January 2024 up to and until 30 June 2024

Who Does Not Need a Residence Permit for Seasonal Work?

No work permit needed: Individuals from EU/EEA/Switzerland do not require a separate work permit for seasonal work in the Netherlands. They can simply register with the Dutch municipality where they reside.

How to obtain a Netherlands Residence Permit for Seasonal Work as a Non-European National?

  • You need a confirmed job offer from a Dutch employer for a seasonal work visa.
  • Your employer in the Netherlands is your sponsor.
  • Your employer will apply for a Single Permit (GVVA) with the Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND). This is a permit that entitles the third-country national to stay and work in the Netherlands.
  • IND reviews the application and seeks a recommendation from the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV).
  • If the decision is positive and the Single Permit is issued, the IND will inform you accordingly.

Requirements to apply for the Seasonal Work Visa

  • You meet the requirements that apply to everyone.
  • You can not work for more than 24 weeks.
  • Your employer arranges proper housing for you.
  • Valid passport & visa: If required by your nationality.
  • Employment contract: With details of your job, salary, and working hours.
  • Proof of accommodation: Secured by your employer or yourself.
  • Proof of sufficient funds: To cover living expenses during your stay.
  • Health insurance: Covering the Netherlands during your stay.
  • Tuberculosis test: Depending on your nationality.

How to Apply for the Netherlands Work Visa?

After getting approval for the work permit, you have to apply for the Provisional residence permit (MVV). The MVV is a long-stay visa sticker (Type D) which is required if you are staying for more than 3 months.

Citizens from Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, Vatican City, United Kingdom, United States, South Korea, Switzerland, and EU/EEA Member States are exempted. They do not need a Visa.
