Types of Czechia Work Permits

1) Employee Card

An employee card is the most common type of work permit for non-Europeans. A Long-term Residence Permit entitles holders to live and work in the Republic of Czechia for more than 90 days. The Employee Card is valid for two years.

An employee card is issued for a specific Job. Vacancies available to foreign nationals are displayed in a central vacancies database.

2) EU Blue Card

The EU Blue Card is for highly skilled professionals with some years of working experience. The EU Blue Card for non-Europeans is valid for 2 years. It also comes under a Czechia Long-term Residence Permit.

3) Intra Company Transfer Card

An Intra-Company Transfer Card (ICT Card) is a specific type of long-term residence permit issued in the Czech Republic who are being transferred within the same company to work in the Czech Republic.

Note: For Seasonal Employment in Czechia, third-country nationals can apply for a Short Stay (Schengen Visa) for up to 90 days or a long-term visa for more than 90 days.

Czechia Work Visa Application Process

• Find a Job: The first step is to get an offer letter from the Employer.
• Employer: An employer will apply for the work permit on your behalf or they will tell you the process of applying for a work permit.
• Book an Appointment: You must contact the nearest Czech embassy in your country to book an appointment for your visa application. Here is a list of all Czechia embassies.

• Decision: The Czech Ministry of Interior (MOI) reviews your application and decides.
• Travel to Czechia: If your application is approved. You will receive a Long Stay Residence permit, which allows you to travel to the Czech Republic to collect the Employee Card within three days of arrival.

Processing Time

Processing the Czechia Work Visa can take up to 60 or 90 days. The application time starts after you have submitted your application at the embassy.
