Italy has a long history of providing seasonal work visas to non-EU nationals. Nationals of the EU/EEA do not need a work permit and a visa to work in Italy. For non-Europeans, the Italian govt has set a number of quotas, which are fixed annually. 89,050 Italy Seasonal Work Visa to be granted in 2024 to non-Europeans under a Decreto Flussi program. You can stay and work in Italy for up to 9 months on a seasonal permit and it can be extended if you have still a job.

Your employer must apply for the work permit, and get your work permit approved. Sectors that are approved for seasonal work are agriculture and tourism/hospitality which are further divided into different activities. Guide to Application Process for the Italy Seasonal Work Visa 2024

The application process to apply for the Italy work visa is simple. Read below what you need.

1# Get a Seasonal Job offer from the Italian Employer

An applicant must have a valid job offer that is aligned with the seasonal employment before applying for a work permit and a visa. You can use online job websites to find a Job in the seasonal industry like:

  • Agriculture: This includes a wide range of activities like fruit and vegetable picking, vineyard work, olive harvesting, and animal husbandry.
  • Tourism and Hospitality: This encompasses various jobs in hotels, restaurants, bars, beaches, and other tourist attractions.
  • There are lots of different job search portals for Italy.
  • EURES and then click on jobseekers and Italy.
  • Infojobs
  • Indeed
  • Glassdoor lists English-speaking jobs in Italy

2# Get your Authorization to Work (Work Permit)

Your future employer must apply for authorization to work at the One-Stop-Shop for Immigration in the Prefettura where the job will take place.

It is also called Nulla Osta al lavoro (work permit, authorization to work)

3# Apply for the Visa at the Embassy

The Italian authorities will inform the Italian embassy/consulate that your authorization to work has been granted and will issue a visa.

In most countries, VFS Global handles the Italy visa applications. Go through the VFS website and select Italy. Check the requirements, fees, and processing time.

4# Get a Residence Permit

Once you arrive in Italy you must apply for a residence permit at the One-Stop-Shop.

Application Dates for Italy Seasonal Work visa

  • Applications for the Italian seasonal visa under a Decreto Flussi 2024 can be submitted by Italian employers from January 1, 2024, to March 31, 2024.
  • Applications from non-EU citizens can be submitted from April 1, 2024, to May 31, 2024.

Duration of the Work Permit

Your authorization to work permit will be valid for 20 days up to nine months, depending on the duration of your employment. It can be renewed in case of new opportunities for seasonal work.

  • Residence Permits Cost:
    • €40 for stays between 3 and 12 months
    • €50 for stays between 12 and 24 months
    • €100 for long-term residence permits
  • Administrative Costs:
    • €30 for the sending of the postal kit
    • €16 for the tax stamp
    • €30.46 for issuance costs
