The Google Summer of Code is a global platform for students and new developers to work on Open source projects. Selected participants will work on a coding project for 12 weeks with an open-source organization under the guidance of a mentor. Each intern will receive a stipend for completing the project. The stipend is from $3000 to $6600. The stipend amount is calculated based on your location. GSoC is an activity that a participant performs as an independent developer for which they are paid a stipend.
Google is celebrating the 20th year of Google Summer of Code. GSoC has welcomed thousands of new developers into the open-source community every year. This year google added more projects focused on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Security. Google has also launched an Artificial Intelligence Course, a Cybersecurity Certificate Course, and Career Certificate Courses in 2023 because these fields are now very high in demand everywhere. How Google Summer of Code Works?
- Students and Developers: Students and developers propose project ideas to participating open-source organizations.
- Organizations: Organizations review proposals and select contributors for the summer.
- Start Coding: Accepted applicants are paired with mentors from their chosen organization and start working on their projects.
- Submit: Submit the project within the given period.

Do You Need to Travel?
No. Google Summer of Code does not require any traveling. You can work it online.
GoSC Stipend
- For medium-sized Projects:
- Minimum (1500 USD)
- Maximum (3300 USD)
- For large-sized Projects:
- Minimum (3000 USD)
- Maximum (6600 USD)
- For small sized Projects:
- Minimum (750 USD)
- Maximum (1650 USD)

Eligibility Criteria
- You must be at least 18 years of age when you register.
- You must be eligible to work in the country you will reside in during the program.
- You must be an open-source beginner or a student.
- You have not been accepted as a GSoC Contributor/Student in GSoC more than once.
- Contributors can submit a maximum of 3 project proposals (to different organizations or even multiple proposals to the same organization).
- Read the program rules, FAQ, contributor guide, and advice for applying
- Review the list of 195 mentoring organizations and use filters to sort by your interests.
- Reach out to the organizations via their contact methods listed on the GSoC site immediately.
