What is a Thai Non-Immigrant Category B Visa?
The Thailand Non-Immigrant B Visa is required when you enter Thailand intending to work or for business. It is valid for one year and can be renewable.
Requirements of a Thai Work Visa
- Passport valid for at least six months.
- Completed visa application form. You can download it from the website of the embassy/consulate of Thailand in your country.
- Two passport-sized photos
- Proof of financial support (20,000 Baht per person and 40,000 Baht per family).
- Evidence of your qualifications for the job you’ll be doing in Thailand (e.g., degree certificates, work experience letters)
- Letter of invitation from your employer in Thailand, stating your position, salary, and duration of employment.
- Health insurance covers you for the duration of your stay in Thailand.
- Obtain a Form WP3: Your employer in Thailand has to submit an approval request at the Office of Foreign Workers Administration in the Department of Employment of the Thai Ministry of Labour.

How to Submit an Application for a Thailand Non-Immigrant B Visa?
- You have to apply for the Thailand work visa at the Embassy or Consulate. Contact the Thailand Embassy in the country where you will apply.
- Make an appointment if it’s needed.
- Wait for the application to be processed
- Collect the passport and visa. If you apply by mail, they will be mailed back to you.

The visa fee is 2,000 Baht for single-entry with three-month validity and 5,000 Baht for multiple entries with one-year validity.

How to Get a Thailand Work Permit?
The Thailand Work Permit allows the holder to work in Thailand legally. Once you have your Non-Immigrant B Visa, you can apply for a work permit from the Ministry of Labour in Thailand.
To apply for a work permit both you and your employer must have several supporting documents, such as:
- Completed work permit application form
- Two passport-sized photos
- Copy of your passport bio page
- Copy of your Non-Immigrant B Visa
- Letter of employment from your employer in Thailand
- Company registration documents
- Financial statements of the company
- Educational certificates and work experience documents of the applicant.
Duration of a Work Thai Work Permit
The duration of a Thailand work permit is one year and it also depends on your work contract period.
Register with the Immigration Bureau
Within 90 days of arriving in Thailand, you must register with the Immigration Bureau. This is a simple process that can be done at any immigration office.
Extension of Stay Permit at the Thai Immigration Bureau
To stay in Thailand for longer than one year you must request an extension of stay at the Immigration Bureau before the current one expires. The extension of stay is given for 1 year.
Apply for Thai Permanent Residency After three Years
Applicants who have Thai non-immigrant visas for work for at least three years can apply for the Thailand Permanent Residence Permit.
